We started ClearMyName because the dispute process actually works, but most people never get the chance to use it properly. Banks rely on that. We do not.
A few years ago a friend of ours was refused by every UK current account he applied for. Six banks, six rejections, no explanation. The reason, when we eventually got the file open, was a CIFAS marker placed by mistake after a card transaction the bank had flagged in error and never reviewed.
He had run a small business for fifteen years. He was about to lose suppliers because he could not move money. Two months later, after a Subject Access Request, a properly drafted dispute, and one polite escalation to the Financial Ombudsman, the marker was off the system and he had a full banking relationship again.
That is when the firm started. We realised how many people were stuck with the same problem and how few places existed that knew the actual route through.
What we work on
CIFAS fraud markers. CCJs we believe should not have been issued. Bank account closures, rejections and frozen funds. Credit files with entries that are wrong, expired or never authorised.
What we do not work on
Bankruptcy, IVAs, debt management plans. Tax disputes. Anything criminal. We will tell you in the first call if your case is outside what we do.
How we work
A single case handler from start to finish. Weekly written updates as standard, more often if anything moves. No portal logins, no call centre, no chat bots.
What it costs
The first 30 minute call is free. Service fees are quoted in writing before we start. Some service lines are offered on a fees follow outcome basis.
By the numbers
A bank can take weeks to reply to a CIFAS dispute even when the case is clear. The Financial Ombudsman can take six months. Civil court set asides go on the court timetable, not ours. We will tell you the realistic timeline at the start, we will chase every deadline, and we will keep you in the loop the whole way through. What we will not do is promise outcomes nobody can promise.
